Lauderdale County Teachers Credit Union is adamant in protecting the personal information of our members. Due to the recent data security breach by the credit reporting agency EQUIFAX which compromised the personal information of millions of consumers we are providing the following information as suggested guidance along with precautions to guard your identity.

Listed below are some suggested guidance and recommendations for you, our members, to take as
precaution to guard your personal information:

Regularly request free credit report checking for unauthorized accounts, dispute any
discrepancies promptly

Review all financial account statements and dispute any unauthorized charges, promptly

Consider enrolling in a free credit reporting and monitoring service

Consider placing a credit lock or credit freeze on your existing credit file

Consider placing a fraud alert if you believe your data has been compromised

Monitor potential credit activity in the names of any children

Be on guard for potential phishing emails. This includes not opening email messages or
attachments from unknown senders and not clicking on any unknown links. Fraudsters frequently send coercive or misleading emails that threaten account suspension or other action if sensitive information is not provided.

Be vigilant in checking the accuracy of email addresses to confirm the sender is legitimate.
Do not respond to email addresses that appear correct, but have minor changes in the name,
such as changing the letter O to a zero

REMEMBER THE CREDIT UNION WILL NOT ASK A MEMBER TO VERIFY ACCOUNT INFORMATION VIA EMAIL.
